Why have a blog?

Bono says to write about not knowing what to write about.
I have wanted to have my own blog for awhile now.
Why?
Why not?
Now I can ask questions in public, post my responses to my own questions, and hope that someone out there will read them and respond back with a better question.
Or maybe no one will ever read this stuff. Which would be like most of the stuff I write. So why have a blog? Now at least I can have my thoughts online instead of decomposable paper.
